The idea behind this post is to show you how I'm going to be labeling Devlogs depending on the game/project. To maintain an organized development history and help you find specific updates, every entry header follows this standardized nomenclature:

[PROJECT ID # TYPE - NUMBER]

1. Project ID

This indicates which game or tool the update belongs to:

  • VIG: Nightfall: The Vigil.

  • COS: Cosmic Framework.

  • DKN: Darkness.

  • OXY: Oxygen.

2. Devlog Type

This categorizes the nature of the content within the report:

  • F (Feature): Implementation of a new mechanic or system.

  • U (Update): General progress regarding art, level design, or assets.

  • V (Version): Significant milestones or new playable builds.

  • P (Patch): Bug fixes and performance optimization.

3. Numbering

  • 01, 02, 03...: A sequential counter for that specific category within the project.

Practical Examples

  • [VIG#F-01] Dr. Hayden's Behavior: Initial implementation of a specific NPC logic for Nightfall.

  • [COS#V-0.1] Alpha Release: First functional release of the Cosmic Framework.

  • [VIG#U-12] Tower Decorations: A sequential report on environment detailing and prop placement.

  • [DKN#P-02] Physics Fix: A technical patch addressing specific collision issues in Darkness.
